About TDEE Meter

TDEE Meter is a set of free tools and guides about energy: how much your body uses, what changes it, and how to eat and train around it. It is put together by the TDEE Meter desk, the small editorial team that writes, checks and maintains every page.

Why we built it

The question behind the site is a practical one: how many calories should I eat? Most answers online rest on a single "activity level" guess. Ours rests on your actual week — the kind of job you have, the steps your phone counts, the sessions you train — because that is where most of the difference between people lies. We also wanted the working on show, so every equation and constant is published.

How we make pages

Tools follow peer-reviewed equations and public reference data, documented on the method page. Guides draw on research papers, official guidelines and, for app comparisons, the features and list prices each maker publishes, with the date we checked them. We do not invent tests, reviews or ratings. The editorial policy has the details.

How the site is funded

It is not funded by the companies it writes about. There are no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored placements and no accounts to sign up for.

Privacy in one line

What you type stays on your device; see the privacy page for the specifics.

Information for healthy adults, not a substitute for a doctor or registered dietitian. Pregnancy, medical conditions and a history of disordered eating all warrant professional advice before changing diet or training.
